Bains Douches

From 3 to 30 April there is a splendid exhibition by Antibes artist Nathalie CAMBECEDES of brushed concrete and metal panels at the Bains Douches Gallery.

Using warm earth tones, Nathalie’s work eulogises archeology.

Running concurrently is a display of “Sculpture bouquets” by the Antibes Floral Club. Flowers, plants and ephemeral living materials are viewed in another dimension and become works of art.

A few metres from Port Vauban, the ancient military blockhouse of the town was located in the part of the ramparts that contains large rooms. Clubs, fishermen and businessmen of the town took over these rooms, five were designated public bathhouses, hence the name Bains Douches.
Since 1996, only the name remains. After restoration, these vaulted rooms with their thick stone walls became a municipal art gallery. Three rooms are set aside for artists.

Professional and amateur artists' work

Generally, three artists a month exhibit their work. One other room is occupied by craftsmen.
