A
few metres from Port Vauban, the ancient military blockhouse
of the town was located in the part of the ramparts that
contains large rooms. Clubs, fishermen and businessmen of
the town took over these rooms, five were designated public
bathhouses, hence the name Bains Douches.
Since 1996, only the name remains. After restoration, these
vaulted rooms with their thick stone walls became a municipal
art gallery. Three rooms are set aside for artists.
