The Chateau Grimaldi became the "Picasso Museum"
on 27 December 1966. Picasso stayed there from mid-September
to mid-November 1946, and produced a great deal of work. He
gave 22 paintings and 44 drawings that he did there to Antibes
council. Since 1952, donations, including those of Jacqueline
Picasso in 1990, and purchases have significantly enhanced
the collection of work at the Picasso Museum.
Works by Nicolas
de Stael, Hans Hartung, Anna Eve Bergman and important 20th
century artists are exhibited. A wonderful
collection of sculptures by Germaine Richier, and works by
Miro, Bernard Pagès and Anne and Patrick Poirier are
on permanent display on the terrace.
The Culturel Service of the Museums organises several programmes for children.
