The general public and the Museums of Antibes

Family visits
To encourage families to come together and teenagers to explore the museums, entry to museums in Antibes is free to under eighteens.

COME ALONG TO THE MUSEUMS

They are there for you. All the work and items on display tell something of:
Our history, our capacity to express life around us, our taste, the world around us; items can be moving, funny, sometimes strange or just simply beautiful; they encourage us to create our own work, to be part of the great adventure of creation.
Museums contain what we wish to leave our children. It is up to parents to help them see and realise how many things there are to discover from the past. Come with the family, take part in museum events, visit with school or a community centre; they are all opportunities for our children to be enriched by our cultural heritage.

Coming to the museum is a pleasant stroll: in the beautiful garden and tower of the Napoleonic Museum, along the ramparts and the Saint André Bastion where the Archaeology Museum is to be found, around old Antibes to see the Peynet and Cartoon Museum and La Tour Museum, and along the paths of Fort Carré where you can look down on the sea from up on high.

Antibes museums general public section

Antibes council formed this section to take charge of cultural and educational events for the general public in museums in the town: Antibes museums general public section is part of the museum management team. They organise events and courses for visitors of all ages.

The museums in Antibes are greatly varied and offer a wide range of sensations and knowledge. Many factors link them together: themes, chronology, and common discoveries – everything can be found such as the everyday life of man in Antiquityand his travels, strategic defence points in architecture between the Middle Ages and the 17th century, and Napoleonic offensives and campaigns as well as highly individual artistic expression in the 20th century and its interaction with history, emphasised by the images and captions of cartoons.

In each venue, mediators are on hand to take visitors on tours and help them beter understand work and objects on display. Mediators plan the tours carefully, seeking to share the artistic, historic and cultural richness present in each museum with those on the tours.
