History of the Picasso Museum chateau
The museum has reopened after extensive renovation work. The enchantment of this exceptional building lives on in the thick stone walls where remains of Roman castrums lie, the Mediaeval Episcopal siege and evidence of the Grimaldi family, before it was handed over to a governor, then an administrative body before becoming a modern Acropolis with Picasso, dedicated to 20th century art.
