Just a few months before the start of the Olympic Games, the astonishing performance of Alain Bernard is a good omen for the event.
His efforts were of note in the summer when the Antibes swimmer gained a historic double victory at the European Swimming Championships in Eindhoven with the 50 metres freestyle in 21.66 and the 100 metres in 47.50, beating world records (21.50 for 50 metres in the semi-final and twice in the 100 metres, moving from 47.60 to 47.50 in just two days!)
A licence holder in the Antibes Juan-les-Pins Swimming Club and trained by Denis Auguin, the 25 year-old athlete is 1 metre 96 tall and 88 kilos and trains for 20 hours per week, alternating swimming and body building.
This level of training has achieved desired results and seen him take the podium with the France colours flying high as well as those of the Antibes club.
