A SNSM RALLY is on Saturday 26 April at Bastion Saint Jaume organised by The National Lifeboat Society (S.N.S.M.). Their objective is to mount an awareness campaign and by staging a Rally participants are exposed to simulated accidents on their vessels out at sea. Through this experience, yachtsmen on sailboats and motor yachts alike will be better prepared to cope in real emergencies. The rally is followed by drinks and dinner with music provided by an orchestra. Registrations for the event are now being taken. Participation fee is €20 per boat and the meal is €25 per person. The National Lifeboat Society is a public utility that serves the general public, safeguarding those at sea and on the coast. In 2007, Antibes Lifeguards carried out 50 rescue missions and saved 120 people. With President Serge Faure, the rescue team is mainly composed of volunteers.
