New recycling bins

Three metal bins with different colours are situated on the pavement next to Square Sidney Bechet in Juan-les-Pins. Looking closely at them, the wording they feature is that of the familiar official recycling logo put in place by the Sophia Antipolis Agglomeration, in partnership with member towns.

These bins are in fact only the tip of the iceberg, and serve to receive recycled rubbish which is then stored underground. The stocked waste is then collected once a week by rubbish lorries.

Installed as part of the programme of measures to improve quality of life, these containers are to progressively replace those installed around the town.
There are two conditions for suitability of placement which are a minimum surface requirement and that the area must not contain water mains.

The depth of the underground chute is 3 metres 30 and it has an individual capacity of 5 cubic metres. This new type of waste disposal bin is designed to offer a more aesthetically pleasing aspect while better integrating into the urban scenery.
The number of containers with underground waste storage is to increase and they are also to be introduced in the old town.

The responsibility of citizens
This environmental measure has been particularly directed at restaurateurs who produce a large quantity of waste cardboard, paper and glass.
The cleanliness of our town is the responsibility of everyone. Citizens are expected to respect the recycling purpose of the bins and not use them for uncycled household waste.
